A unique ensemble of righteous bands and musicians will perform The Second Annual Tribute To The Songs of The Last Waltz by The Band on November 25, 2005 at Smiths Olde Bar in Atlanta, GA, at 9:30 pm.

Atlanta's Kris "Jelly Roll" Gloer is the founder and producer of the Tribute, which will feature Houndog (in which Gloer plays along with Mark Kramer, Eric Reed and Kevin Rutschman). Special performing guests will include Kevin Harris and Efrem Towns from The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tommy Talton from The Allman Brothers Band and Cowboy, Rick Richards from the The Georgia Satellites, Swami Gone Bananas, The Sundogs, David Fisch and Kevin Thomas from Fish Mouth Fools, radiant vocalist Mimi Holland and many more. The ensemble will perform more than 20 songs from the concert film.  

"You've got to respect your roots, and The Last Waltz is classic rock history," said Gloer. "I've always wanted to perform it. Last year we did and struck a very responsive chord with audiences. This year we're taking it to another level with an amazing ensemble in one of the South's revered music rooms, Smiths Olde Bar. Next year will be the 30th anniversary if the film, and you can bet we'll up the ante again."

The Band formed in 1967 in Toronto, after playing as Bob Dylan's backing band the prior year, They quickly became one of the world's most popular and influential rock groups. Blending rock, bluegrass, folk and country music styles, they produced a large body of work including "Mystery Train," "Up On Cripple Creek," "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," and "The Weight." They ended their days as an active band with a farewell concert that Martin Scorsese filmed, directed and released as The Last Waltz in 1976. The film, an all-star affair with dozens of stars including Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Neil Young and Van Morrison, has come to be regarded by critics as one of the most influential rock films of all time.
