Subtitled The Third One Now the third "take" in The Genuine Bootleg Series was released as a 3 CD set in 1999. This appeared after The Band bootleg Take 4 aka Crossing The Great Divide, in a similar elaborate fold out sleeve. Take 3 includes Paul Zollo's "Songtalk" interview written for SongTalk, the journal of the National Academy of Songwriters.

The album has really weird versions of "Ballad of A Thin Man" and two versions of "Blowing in The Wind" from 1978 - they sound like rehearsals. The New Morning outtakes with overdubbing are also weird - fortunately they never got used!
