Country Comment from 1977 is a rare hard-core country compilation on the British Charly label.
The last track is a cover version of The Band's
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," performed by The Bluegrass Alliance.
Bluegrass Alliance from Louisville initially
consisted of Dan Crary (guitar, vocals) , Wayne Stewart (guitar, vocals), Buddy Spurlock (banjo), Lonnie Pierce
(fiddle) and Ebo Walker (bass).
The
have had several lineups later,
country-star Vince Gill is probably their best known member. Other group members have been
Tony Rice, Sam Bush, Curtis Burch, Courtney Johnson and Steve Cooley.
The group are remembered in bluegrass for their rather non-traditional approach to
the music.
