Marva Wright: Marva
New Orleans singer Marva Wright started performing
professionally in 1987 and
has released nearly 10
solo CDs. Her reportoire covers blues, R&B, jazz
standards, traditional
jazz and gospel, as well
as her own compositions.
Her 2000 album Marva has a version of "The Weight", inspired by Aretha Franklin and
slide-guitarist Duane Allman's soulful version from the 1970 album
This Girl's in Love with You.
