Various Artists: Winter, Fire & Snow: Songs for the Holiday Season
If you want a real PC Christmas, with veggie turkey and Linda McCartney's
new cookery book under your biodynamically grown Christmas tree, wrapped
in recycled paper, then Winter, Fire & Snow is probably the
Christmas album for you. Nobodys like Deep Forest and Amina team up
with politically correct artists like Manu Dibango and Ladysmith Black
Mambazo, all in the spirit of good cause but bad taste. Together they have
come up with a terrible mix of a "Christmas" record that, if it wasn't for
Mary Karlzen's contribution, immediately would have made me
convert to Jehova's Witnesses. Robbie Robertson contributes his seven year
old solo version of the Christmas classic
"Christmas Must Be Tonight" and Norwegian Bel Canto probably increases the novelty effect for
Christmas-loving Americans. Imagine, a tune from the home of Santa Claus!
Robbie's solo version of "Christmas..." is from the 1988 soundtrack album Scrooged. Tracks
