Electric Country Blues, 1 & 2

Taught by Jim Weider

[cover art]
Mississippi Delta meets Memphis country and goes electric! The result: swampy blues riffs and progressions blended with the funky picking and string bends of modern country.

Jim Weider has developed a powerful electric guitar sound based on this uniquely American style. He show you how to play licks and solos in the Delta, Louisiana, and Cajun-based tones influenced by James Burton, Muddy Waters, Lonnie Mack, Jerry Reed, Scotty Moore, Robbie Robertson, Pop Staples, Paul Burlison, Fred Carter, B.B. King, J.J. Cale, Albert King, Jesse Ed Davis, Amos Garrett, and others.

Jim provides a myriad of exercises and ideas: right hand pick-and-finger technique; bass-damping; pull-offs and hammer-ons for speed work; string-bending licks combined with with open strings; banjo-style rolls; shuffle and rockabilly rhythms; and much more.

Full band demonstrations illustrates the licks and techniques on jam session favorites, including invaluable sections where you can play lead to their rhythm track. Songs include "Big Foot", "Milk Cow Boogie", "Dead Thumb Blues", "Mojo", "Deepest Cut", "New Orleans Boogie", "Haunted House", "Bring It On Home To Me", and more.

Jim uses the vintage instruments, amps and outboard devices that have made his previous lessons so popular. With special guests the Honky Tonk Gurus, aka Randy Ciarlante (drums), Richard Bell (keyboards), and Steve Rust (bass).
