SCTV Volume 1 Network 90[Cover] In 1977, Canadian-produced SCTV began as a 30-minute sketch show. It ran in syndication in the U.S. for several years. In 1981 it was picked up by NBC in a 90-minute format. It ran for 2 years and was seen by millions of viewers weekly. This 5-DVD box set covers the first 9 (Cycle 1 as it was referred to in Canada) 90-minute episodes and includes tons of extras. Levon Helm with the Cate Brothers band are musical guests in "Episode 1", from a program that aired on May 15, 1981, with Eugene Levy in his portrayal of inneffectual SCTV newsman (and occasional SCTV co-anchor) Earl Camembert (a takeoff on a longtime former Canadian Broadcasting Corp. anchor named Earl Cameron) "almost interviewing" Levon Helm. The episode features fantastic, crystal clear performances from Levon and the Cate Bros, including "Sweet Peach Georgia Wine" and "Summertime Blues." Video Clips
