The Band - Jericho
Their music broke through the chaos of psychedelia to influence
enormously - if not reroute - the entire direction of rock music. Now,
twenty-five years after the release of their debut album Music From Big
Pink (1968) and nearly fifteen years since their last recording The
Last Waltz, The Band will deliver a stellar new album Jericho on
October 19th, 1993.
Original members Levon Helm, Rick Danko, and Garth Hudson have been
joined by guitarist Jim Weider, keyboardist Richard Bell, and
percussionist Randy Ciarlante in a musical effort that , according to
some, sounds like it was taken from the vault.
"Atlantic City" is the first track to be released from the album which
embodies superb new Band originals in addition to Bob Dylan's "Blind
Willie McTell". Also, included on the album is "Country Boy", a labor of
love featuring a soulful and haunting Richard Manuel in his last studio
performance recorded in 1985.
