Bob Dylan and The Band: Into the FloodInto The Flood is a 2CD Dylan/The Band bootleg recorded at "The Capitol Center", Jan 15, 1974, during Tour '74. It is clearly an audience recording [one can hear some discussions closer to the microphone than the music]. The 2 CDs are packaged in a slim double CD jewel case [like Guitars Kissing...], but the packaging shows no imagination [its a ripoff from Before The Flood]. The CDs themselves have the title: "It Ain't Me Babe" on them, rather than "Into The Flood."
I was at this concert, and can attest to the accuracy of the venue, at
least in part. Someone in the audience yelled for "Just Like A Woman"
and I can hear him on this recording. [Dylan obliged and then turned and
bowed to the requestor who was only a few seats away from me.]
This is only a fair recording, though the performances are solid and
representative of Tour '74. Its is listenable, but benefits from judicious
use of EQ. Its better than some. The mix is pretty good for audience
recordings from the same time - its far better than
Forever Young from
Madison Square Garden [1/31/74], which may be a soundboard but is a poorly mixed recording.
The recording is not the complete
concert, missing: "Forever Young", "Something There Is About You", "Like A
Rolling Stone", and "Most Likely You Go Your Way" (reprise). Its an enjoyable
listen, though not one that you are likely to go back to regularly.
Depending on what you want, you would probably do better with the
official release from the tour. Band TracksDisc 17. Stagefright8. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down 9. King Harvest (Has Surely Come) 10. This Wheel's On Fire 11. I Shall Be Released 12.
