The Beatles: The Get Back Journals II

[cover art]

Well...the list of albums with covers of Band songs are supposed to steer clear of bootlegs, but I just had to include this one, since it contains one of the few known recordings of the Fabulous Four playing material by The Band (actually it is a bit surprising that they didn't do more covers, considering George Harrison's praise of Music from Big Pink and Lennon's and the group's admiration of Bob Dylan and Ronnie Hawkins.)

The bootleg is an 8 CD box set with recordings from January 2nd to January 15th, 1969, taped at Twickenham Studios in London where the Beatles rehearsed for their first live performance in over two years. Included is a fragment of their version of The Band's "To Kingdom Come".

Sound sample

  • To Kingdom Come [RealAudio] MPEG-2 file (2.4Mb)
  • The Beatles - The Get Back Journals II - 1996 - Vigo 138-145
