Bonnie Raitt: Green Light
Raitt dumps the slick stuff and goes for the grit with this energetic set, featuring her band, which included
keyboardist Ian MacLagan, whose credits included the Stones and Faces. Raitt's sensitive electric
slide-guitar work was finally up front in the mix. It's one of her very best albums. Raitt does spirited
versions of NRBQ's "Green Light" and "Me and the Boys." Other standouts include the wreckless
rockers "Willya Wontcha" and "I Can't Help Myself." "River of Tears" is a powerful track that Raitt has
dedicated to the memory of Little Feat's Lowell George in shows over the years.
Richard Manuel contributes a spectacular set of backing vocals to "River of Tears" on Raitt's Green Light.
