Shannon Curfman: Loud Guitars, Big Suspicions

[cover art]  [cover art]

Shannon Curfman is a 14(!) year old blues singer from Stillwater, Minn., hooked on music from the 60's and 70's. Instead of sweet pop, she cooks up a smoky blend of funk and blues that sounds more like Little Feat or Bonnie Raitt. Her debut CD, Loud Guitars, Big Suspicions, titled after a Sheryl Crow song that she performs, was first released on the small label Pop Sense Records, and then re-released by Arista in September 1999. It is the first in a guaranteed three-record deal with Arista.

Among the songs on the CD is a version of The Band's "The Weight," a concert favorite of Curfman's.
