Ronnie Hawkins: Rrrracket Time

[cover art]

[LP cover] [Back cover]

Rrrracket Time came out in '79, but is a compilation of unreleased tapes done by Ronnie Hawkins around '64-'66. Recorded June and mid-November, 1964, Toronto (tracks A1-A7 and B1-B6), and in April 1958, Hamilton, Ontario (tracks B7-B8). Mostly done using the backing band that replaced Levon and the Hawks. Fred Carter produced much of it, but probably didn't play much -- he certainly didn't need to as Hawkins had amazing guitarists of his own. The only Levon Helm involvement is the inclusion of the original Quality Records versions of "Hey Bo Diddley" and "Love Me Like You Can".
